Don’t miss right start to education

July 21, 2017

WITH less than two weeks remaining to apply for first and second round placements in four and three year old kindergarten programs Campaspe Shire is urging residents not to leave their child’s enrolment to the last minute.

Mayor Adrian Weston said kindergarten is an important stage of a preschooler’s social and emotional development.

‘‘The kindergarten environment allows children to develop their language, literacy and numeracy skills by a fun and engaging means,’’ he said.

There are 13 community kindergartens across the shire with details of each accessible via our website

Four year old funded programs for 2018 are available to eligible children turning four on or before April 30, 2018. Three year old programs are also offered in some kindergartens for children eligible if turning three on or before the same date.

‘‘Kindergarten fees are set by the management service or kindergarten committee and parents are encouraged to contact their local kindergarten for more information,’’ Cr Weston said.

Applications for first and second round offers for four year old funded kindergarten and three year old junior kindergarten programs close July 31.

Forms can be downloaded from council’s website and are available from all council customer service centres, participating kindergartens, Campaspe Regional Library Echuca and Maternal and Child Health centres.
