RENEE George’s hairdressing apprenticeship has ended with the Echuca local receiving the best third year apprentice award at Bendigo TAFE.

Originally from Kyabram, Renee has spent the majority of her life in Echuca.

Having completed her three years at Hakkas Hair Design in Echuca, Renee even took the initiative to study in London at Vidal Sassoon’s five-day intense cutting course.

“I wanted to do something a bit different before I qualified to give me more confidence,’’ she said.

The best third year apprentice award looks for the student who has a range of skillsets both practically and socially.

“They go for the person who puts in more effort and goes out of their way with the cliental at trades school,’’ Renee said.

“A couple of girls here had also been winners of this award before so it was great that I could do it too.

“I received an email telling me I’d won and I was just so excited.’’

Renee plans to stay and work at Hakkas.
