ENROLMENTS for 2019 four-year-old funded kindergarten and three-year-old pre-kindergarten programs will open to the community tomorrow.

ENROLMENTS for 2019 four-year-old funded kindergarten and three-year-old pre-kindergarten programs will open to the community tomorrow.

Campaspe Shire Council mayor Adrian Weston said kindergarten is an important stage of a preschooler’s social and emotional development.

‘‘It provides a strong foundation on which skills are learnt, developed and built on right throughout their lives,’’ he said.

“The kindergarten environment allows children to develop their language, literacy and numeracy skills by a fun and engaging means.’’

Council’s centralised enrolment process makes it easy for parents.

They are able to indicate their preferences for kindergarten in the one application saving time and effort.

Children are eligible to attend a Victorian Government funded kindergarten program if they turn four on or before April 30 in the year of attendance.

Central enrolments are for kindergarten programs at Echuca Central, Echuca East and Echuca South, Rochester, Lockington, Tongala, Gunbower, Stanhope, Berrimba, Pink & Blue and Goodstart Early Learning kindergartens.

With the amended “No Jab, No Play’ legislation taking effect from February this year, an Immunisation History Statement from the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) is a compulsory requirement and the only form of documentation accepted when enrolling children into early childhood education.

“Immunisation History Statements can be easily obtained from Medicare and online via family MyGov accounts,” Cr Weston said.

A kindergarten information evening will be held on Thursday, May 10 from 6pm – 7.30pm at the Echuca Civic Centre.

Parents and carers will have the opportunity to learn about kindergarten services available in Campaspe and have any questions answered.

“It’s a great opportunity to hear from early childhood educators about the kindergarten experience,” Cr Weston said.

Central enrolment applications can be submitted in person at any of council’s customer service centres, email the form and supporting documents to kinder@campaspe.vic.gov.au or post to Kindergarten Central Enrolment – Campaspe Shire Council, PO Box 35, Echuca, VIC 3564.

Application forms will be available tomorrow at all council customer service centres, the kindergartens, maternal and child health centres and Berrimba Childcare Centre.

They can also be downloaded from council’s website.

Applications for first and second round offers will close July 31.
