Colour-coded sustainable skills

It’s a conundrum we’ve all faced before when emptying the trash — what goes in which bin?

Thanks to Campaspe Shire, local children at Sandra Sanderson’s Family Day Care will be better equipped to answer this question.

The littlies had a ball on Monday when Campaspe Shire environmental education officer Samantha Ferrier came to visit.

By playing the game ‘what bin does this go in’, the children learnt about ways to reduce, reuse and recycle waste, sorting it into the correct-coloured bins.

The play session also armed the children with better recycling habits to keep our planet healthy and safe — and protecting it for future generations.

‘‘It’s a fun and interactive way to teach our future generations about waste and recycling and how important it is to us all,’’ Samantha said. ‘‘And quite often the children will go home and teach their parents how to recycle better.’’ To find out more about Family Day Care or to become an educator, call Rebecca Leiper at Intereach Family Day Care on 5890 5210.
