THE second School Transitions in Gannawarra booklet is being launched in the lead up to Education Week.
Gannawarra Shire councillor Jodie Basile said council has worked in partnership with local schools and supporting community services to develop the booklet.
“The booklet provides information to parents and carers on prospective schools and supporting community services to assist parents make choices about their child’s education in 2019,” she said.
“Council aims to foster a community that values life-long learning and this publication is particularly aimed at assisting families with their children’s enrolment and transition into prep and year seven.”
The publication contains information on each school within Gannawarra Shire including what facilities schools have access to the values that they hold and the resources they have available.
“Council encourages parents and carers to research and visit multiple schools before making an enrolment decision,” Cr Basile said.
“The academic and social needs of a child is not a one size fits all and different schools may better complement the needs of a child.”
Printed copies of the document will be widely distributed as part of Education Week 2018, from May 20-26.
Copies of the publication will also be available from council’s Kerang and Cohuna offices or from gsc.vic.gov.au
“We are very excited about transition in Gannawarra and wish parents and carers all the best during the enrolment and transition process," said Cr Basile.
